Title X Funding
Arizona Family Health Partnership is strongly opposed to recent attempts by Congress to eliminate or substantially cut Title X Funding.
The Title X program is the only nationally funded program that provides lifesaving and preventative healthcare to millions of women each year. Title X is a proven, cost-effective program that prevents unintended pregnancies and provides services such as Pap tests, breast exams, and tests for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV. It does NOT provide any funding for abortion services.
Arizona Family Health Partnership and its delegates rely on Title X money to deliver these essential services to people across our state. By eliminating Title X funding, over 40,000 Arizonans would lose their access to reproductive health services. The negative impact this would have on Arizona cannot be overstated.
Additionally, Arizona Family Health Partnership’s healthcare network helps keep costs down for communities across our state. In 2008 alone, the services provided by Title X-supported centers saved over $25 million in public funding. Cutting Title X funding would just add more burden to our already strained state budget.
Because of these impacts, Arizona Family Health Partnership opposes any attempts to eliminate or significantly reduce Title X funding. It would be devastating to families, women, and children across Arizona.
